Question: What are the means that will help a Muslim to wake up for the morning prayer? Bearing in mind that he goes to bed early, but does not wake up until after the sun has risen.
Shaykh Ibn Baaz (rahimahullaah): It is an obligation upon every Muslim to fear Allaah, and to pray the five prescribed prayers at their appointed times in the Masjid along with the Muslim congregation. He must be vigilant in carrying out all of the means that will aid him upon this. And from the ways that will help him stand for the Fajr prayer with the congregation are:
1) He (should) sleep early;
2) Set an alarm clock to the appropriate hour so that he gets up for the prayer on time and attends it in congregation; and
3) He must strive in imploring Allaah for success and assistance.
He should also repeat the legislated words of remembrance before he goes to sleep. By doing so, Allaah will grant him success – in shaa` Allaah – in rising up for the prayer on time, and performing it with the rest of the Jamaa’ah.

The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) warned us:
مَا مِنْ قَوْمٍ يُعْمَلُ فِيهِمْ بِالْمَعَاصِي، ثُمَّ يَقْدِرُونَ عَلَى أَنْ يُغَيِّرُوا، ثُمَّ لَا يُغَيِّرُوا، إِلَّا يُوشِكُ أَنْ يَعُمَّهُمُ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ بِعِقَابٍ
“There is no group of people among whom evil deeds are done in their midst, and they do not change (the evil, by forbidding it) when they are capable, except that they are on the verge of being punished by Allaah collectively.”
[Aboo Daawood #4338, Saheeh]
Upon the authority of Abu Hurairah (radhiyallaahu anhu) who said the Messenger of Allah – (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) said: “Indeed the people of Jannah will not have bodily hair or beards, and they will have (Natural) Kuhl (I.e. Eyeliner) on their eyes. Their youth will never end and their garments will never wear out“
[Collected by At Tirmidhi (2539) and declared ‘Saheeh’ By Shaykh Albaani in Saheeh At Targheeb]
Upon the authority of Abu Sa’eed Al Khudri (Radhiyallaahu ‘Anhu) who said that the Messenger of Allah – (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) said: “If the believer desires a child in Jannah, then pregnancy, child birth and the child coming of age occurs in an hour (or in a short period) and the child is just as they desire!

Upon the authority of hakeem Ibn Mu’aawiyah Al Qushairi from his father who said i heard the Messenger of Allah – (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) say:”In Jannah there is an Ocean of Water, an Ocean of Milk, An Ocean of Honey and an Ocean of Wine, then the rivers (of Jannah) emanate from them.”

Saalih bin Ahmed bin Hanbal said: “A person, who used to treat flogs etc, saw my father (Ahmed bin Hanbal) and said: ‘I have also seen such a person who received 1000 flogs but I never saw such a beating (that Imaam Ahmed received)’. There were the signs of beating over his back and on the chest. Then he took the stitch and inserted it into some of the wounds and said that this stitch could not reach to the end of the wound. He used to come and treat him.
He (Imaam Ahmed) had also received some flogs on his face. He remained lying prone (on the surface) for as long as Allaah wished. Then he said: ‘This is one thing (i.e. the torn skin of the wound) that I want to cut’. That Doctor used to hold the skin with a tong and cut it with a knife. He (Imaam Ahmed) remained patient and thankful in this condition, and he would keep praising Allaah. Then Allaah cured him but the pain of wounds remained with him at several places. His back remained affected due to flogs until his death. May Allaah have mercy upon him! He used to say: ‘By Allaah, I have tried my best, all I want is that I be saved from the punishment (of Allaah) and if my matter balances out then it would be more than enough.’”

Abu Huraira reported: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, when a young man approached us. When we saw him, we said, “If only this young man had given his youth and effort and strength in the path of Allah!” The Messenger of Allah heard us and he said, “Is there nothing in the path of Allah but fighting? Whoever strives for his parents is in the path of Allah. Whoever strives for his family is in the path of Allah. Whoever strives for himself to be independent is in the path of Allah. Whoever strives to gain many possessions for himself is in the path of Satan.”
