Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen regarding covering the head when reading Qur’aan

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen said in his comments on sujood al-tilaawah (prostration required when reading certain verses of the Qur’aan): “Sujood al-tilaawah is to be done when reading Qur’aan. It may be done in any state, even with the head uncovered, etc., because this prostration is not subject to the rulings on prayer.”

Subhaan Allaah- Three Categories of People on the Day of Resurrection

Tafseer Ibn Kathir : 56. Al-Waqi’ah

(7. And you (all) will be in three groups. )

(8. So those on the right — how (fortunate) will be those on the right!)

(9. And those on the left — how (unfortunate) will be those on the left!)

(10. And those foremost will be foremost.)

Allah’s statement,

(And you (all) will be in three groups.) This means that people will be divided into three categories on the Day of Resurrection.

  1. Some will on the right of Allah’s Throne, and they are those who were brought forth from `Adam’s right side. This category will be given their Books of Records in their right hand and will be taken to the right side. As-Suddi explained that they will comprise the majority of the residents of Paradise.
  2. Another category is those who will be placed to the left of Allah’s Throne, and they are those who were brought forth from `Adam’s left side. This category will be given their Books of Records in their left hands and will be taken to the left side. They are the residents of the Fire, may Allah save us from their actions.
  3. A third category is comprised of those who are the foremost and nearest before Allah. They are in a better grade and status and nearer to Allah than those on the right side. They are the chiefs of those on the right side, because they include the Messengers, Prophets, true believers and martyrs. They are fewer than those on the right side;

so Allah said,

(So those on the right — how will be those on the right! And those on the left — how will be those on the left! And those foremost will be foremost.) Allah divides people into these three groups upon their death, as indicated by the end of this Surah. Allah mentioned them in His statement as well,

(Then We gave the Book as inheritance to such of Our servants whom We chose. Then of them are some who wrong themselves, and of them are some who follow a middle course, and of them are some who are, by Allah’s leave, foremost in good deeds.)(35:32) Muhammad bin Ka`b, Abu Hazrah Ya`qub bin Mujahid said that,

(And those foremost will be foremost.) is about the Prophets, peace be upon them, while As-Suddi said that they are the residents of the utmost highs (Ahl Al-`Illiyyin, in Paradise). The meaning of foremost is that they were foremost in performing the acts of righteousness just as Allah commanded them,

(And march forth in the way to forgiveness from your Lord, and for Paradise as wide as the heavens and the earth.)(3:133) and,

(Race with one another in hastening towards forgiveness from your Lord, and Paradise the width whereof is as the width of the heaven and the earth.)(57:21) Therefore, those who rush to obey Allah in this life and are foremost in performing acts of righteousness, will be among the foremost believers honored in the Hereafter. Verily, the reward is according to the kind of deed, and as one does, so he is judged. So Allah said:

(These will be the nearest (to Allah). In the Gardens of Delight.)

MUST READ!! – SUBHAAN ALLAAH- “IF WE HAD SENT DOWN THIS QUR’AN ONTO A MOUNTAIN, YOU WOULD HAVE SEEN IT HUMBLED…

Allaah, Most High says,

“If we had sent down this Qur’an onto a mountain, you would have seen it humbled, crushing to pieces out of fear of Allaah…” [Al-Hashr:21]

Abu ‘Imran al-Jawni said, By Allaah, our Lord has directed such things to us in the Qur’an, which, were He to have directed to the mountains would have humbled and obliterated them.

Malik ibn Dinar, may Allaah have mercy on him, would recite this verse and say, ‘I swear to you, no servant believes in this Qur’an except that It causes his heart to burst.’ [Suyuti, al-Durr, vol. 14, pg.396]

Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali said regarding this verse, You, son of Adam, have a greater duty to yield to the remembrance of Allaah, and to what He has burdened you with of His Book and given you of His laws (than the mountains) since you will be judged and then find your final abode in Paradise or Hell.

The ruling upon the person who recites the Quraan and learns knowledge but he does not act upon these two things

Question:

What is the shareeah ruling upon the person who recites the Quraan and learns knowledge but he does not act upon these two things?

Answer:

This person is just as Allaah subhaanahu wa ta’aala states:

The likeness of those who were entrusted with (the obligation of the) Tawraah but who subsequently failed in those (obligations) is as the likeness of a donkey who carries huge burdens of books. Surah al Jumuah (62) aayah 5

And just as He subhaanahu wa ta’aala stated:

O you who believe! Indeed there are many of the (Jewish) rabbis and (Christian) monks who devour the wealth of mankind in falsehood and hinder (them) from the way of Allaah. Surah at Tawbah (9) aayah 34

And just as He ta’aala stated:

And recite (O Muhammad) to them the story of him to whom We gave our Aayaat, but he threw them away so Shaytaan followed him up and he became of those who went astray. And had We willed, We would surely have elevated him therewith but he clung to the earth and followed his own vain desire. So his description is the description of a dog; if you drive him away, he lolls his tongue out – or if you leave him alone, he still lolls his tongue out. Such is the description of the people who reject our Ayaat. Surah Al A’raaf (7) aayah 175 to 176

So this person is considered one of the scholars of evil, and Allaah’s help is sought.

what to do with an old/ripped up mus-haf/Qur’aan??

Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan:

“If a Mus-haf has reached a state where it cannot be benefited from because it has become worn out, then it should either be buried in a pure place, or be burned. Both were done by the companions of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). ”

The trial of Imam Ahmad, in his time, from the people of misguidance, claiming the Qur’aan was created- MUST READ

This issue, of claiming that the Qur’an is created, as you all are aware, is very serious. Great trial occured for Ahl As-Sunnah due to this issue, and at the head of (those who sustained great difficulty and tribulations was) Al-Imam Ahmed. During this trial, people were imprisoned, tortured, and killed. All of this was done by the Jahmiyah and the Mutazilah during the time of Al-Ma’mun, Al-Mu’tasim, and Al-Wathiq, during three different leaderships from the Abbasid Dynasty. The Islamic Ummah was put through a great trial by way of the Jahmiyah, the Mutazilah, and the other people of misguidance and deviation, where they gained power over the People of the Sunnah, but in the end Allaah decreed that the good end would be for His pious servants. Al Imam Ahmad exerted immense patience, persevering upon imprisonment, torture, and severe burdens that even the mountains would not be able to bare. So Allaah raised his level and his status, eventually becoming the Imam of Ahl As-Sunnah in truth.

MUST READ | Ibn Qayyim: If you want to benefit from the Qur’an, you must concentrate and devote your heart..

Ibn Al-Qayyim Rahimahullaah:

If you want to benefit from the Qur’an, you must concentrate and devote your heart solely when reciting and listening to it. You must pay attention and try to comprehend the fact that what you are reading is the word of Allaah. As you read, you must know that Allaah is addressing you in and through this Qur’an. Indeed, it is the words of Allaah to you through the tongue of His Messenger. Allaah says:

“Verily, therein is indeed a reminder for him who has a heart or gives ear while he is heedful.”. (50:37)
